Travel

Rush-hour congestion is hectic. Disabled vehicles and maintenance activities are inconvenient. All of which leads to a restricted I-74 corridor. With its narrow width and lack of shoulders, the existing Mississippi River Bridge is a major contributor to the congestion problems. The Iowa and Illinois departments of transportation are making changes to I-74 for a better traveling experience with additional travel lanes, improvements to interchanges and intersections, as well as other improvements.

Growing Communities

The I-74 Mississippi River Bridge is bringing you additional travel lanes, improvements to interchanges and intersections and new designs for on- and off-ramps. The Quad Cities are growing, and the Iowa and Illinois departments of transportation want to bring the public a safer commute, better designed interchanges and a more reliable travel experience.

Bicycle & Pedestrians

A number of bicycle and pedestrian facilities are included in the project area, including a multi-use path along the I-74 bridge and connections to existing local paths in both Bettendorf and Moline.

Safety & Reliability

New interchanges, local road reconfigurations and the new bridge will improve mobility and operation, thereby making it safer and more reliable for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
